Darcy Bears, CA, CIM, CFP

Darcy has worked in the financial services industry since 1998. Born in Charlottetown and raised on a farm in rural Prince Edward Island, Darcy graduated from Saint Mary’s University in Halifax in 1990 with a Bachelor of Commerce degree. He then completed his CA designation with Deloitte Touche LLP in 1992. After holding various accounting and business sector positions in Halifax, Darcy moved to Bridgewater in 1998 to begin his career with Scotia Wealth Management. Along with his CA designation, Darcy holds CFP (Certified Financial Planner) and CIM (Canadian Investment Manager) designations. He is also a Portfolio Manager , which allows him to provide discretionary and non-discretionary investment services.

Darcy is an avid cross-fit athlete and an enthusiastic surfer. He loves to explore the coastline of sunny Central America, but also considers himself fortunate to have the best waves in the country at his back door. Darcy has his Black belt in Uechi Ryu karate and generally enjoys all forms of recreation and fitness. He has been married to Karen for over 25 years and they have two young adult sons – Ben and Tyson. After years of volunteering in the boys athletics programs and cheering from the sidelines, Darcy and his wife Karen now fill their free time with active adventures, travel planning and spending time with their friends.
